The final exam consists of 3 sections, Section A has 40 multiple choice questions, Section B are short answer questions worth 20 marks and lastly Section C are essay questions or computations worth a total of 40 marks.
English - The exam takes material from both the novel The Firm and Life Accents 4B. For The Firm, questions are based on pages 1 through 40. The multiple choice questions are almost entirely objective. The short answer and essay questions are more subjective and cover ideas that span much of the 40 pages we have read so far. For Life Accents 4B, the questions are mostly taken from Unit 6 and are primarily objective as well.
Mathematics – In mathematics students will be tested on four topics: probability, surds, indices and logarithms. Students are required to know values and terms associated with the probability scale and to be able to calculate experimental and theoretical probability, relative frequency and long-run proportion. Students are required to be able to define and recognize surds and to simplify expressions involving the four basic operations. Their ability to express terms with a rational denominator will also be examined. The student’s knowledge of the laws governing operations with indices and logarithms will be tested. Students are required to be able to express a relationship in either exponential or logarithmic form and they will be required to solve equations involving an unknown as part of the base or index in expressions.
Science - Students are advised to study chapter 1-5 of their textbook. Including some vocabulary and formulae. Students should practice conversion of SI units from bigger to smaller units or from smaller to bigger units. They should be able to identify the different physical properties of a material.
Physics - All students must read and understand all vocabulary written in the back of their notebook. The final exam covers Chapter 1, 2 and 3 of the textbook and Newton’s 3 Laws of Motion. Students must learn how to interpret graphs and write conclusion based on a given data. Students must also review the different instruments used in the laboratory, be able to spell the names of the instrument or parts correctly, know its specific use, and methods on how to use it. The students are expected to write an investigation given a topic.
Social Studies - The student must study the following
1. Text book- A. Topic 1 pages 1-7
B. Topic 2 pages 8-61
C. Topic 3 pages 62-119
2. Workbook- All completed pages from 1-28
3. Worksheets that we completed on the earth in space and latitude and longitude.
4. Study all the vocabulary words that were listed on the blackboard during the semester.
