

The final exam consists of 3 sections, Section A has 40 multiple choice questions, Section B are short answer questions worth 20 marks and lastly Section C are essay questions or computations worth a total of 40 marks.
English - Section A: Questions are all from Chapters 1 – 10 of ‘Strangers on a Train’. Students should have read through the chapters many times and important sections should be highlighted. You will know what chapter each question comes from! Section B: Questions are from Chapters 1 – 10 as well, but are more general in scope. They must be answered with proper sentences. Section C: Students need to complete 4, 100 word essays. They will select topics from a list of 8. Points will be lost for incomplete sentences and poor grammar.
Mathematics - The course covered the history and development of our numbering system from natural or counting numbers, through whole numbers with the advent of zero, and the use of integers to include negative values. The evolvement of set theory regarding the grouping of like objects and studied the outcomes of the various set operations we imposed upon them.
Science - All grade 10 Science students are advised to revise their notes (about 20 pages in their workbooks), vocabulary and essays as well as the following textbook topics:
The scientific method.
Cell biology.
Photosynthesis.
Nutrition and digestion.
Ecology, environment and the gas cycles.
Biodiversity and classification of organisms.
Transport, osmosis and diffusion.
Respiration.
Social Studies - The students need to know the following topics: Investigating the Past, Civilizations, Kingdoms and Empires, The Indus Valley, The Ancient Chinese, The Maritime Kingdom or Empire, Government and Society, Governing a Country and Social Divisions in a Country. They also need to study all the vocabulary words that were listed on the chalk board for semester.
